Gulf Stream Heavenly Bamboo

Nandina domestica 'Gulf Stream'

While this plant has a common name of 'Heavenly Bamboo', it is not a true bamboo at all! This evergreen shrub is extremely durable and low-maintenance. Its ever-changing foliage adds color to any landscape. New leaves are a striking scarlet red in the spring and mature to a cool blue-green in the summer, with small white flowers appearing. As temperatures cool in the fall, the foliage becomes an intense red. Its compact shape makes it perfect for planting around foundations or in mixed borders.
