QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Ask a Question
  • How many years does it take for this tissue-culture-grown fig to start bearing fruit?

The figs are old enough when shipped to start bearing within 2-3 years if they establish well.

  • Lattarula Fig (Italian HoneyFig): Interested in purchasing an Italian Honey Fig tree. Raintree description states: “grown from tissue culture” Am not a fan of biological tissue culture of food, plants, or humans. Possible to get a tree grown the old fashion way? Seeds, cuttings?

We no longer carry cutting propogated figs as they are extremely vulnerable to contamination by mosaic virus and figs do not come true from seed. When we say "tissue cultured" what we mean is using micro-cutting, a very thin slice of plant matieral, that can be rooted in a nutrient medium and transfered to soil where they can grow naturally.

It was worth the wait

I wasn't sure I was ever going to get ripe figs from this tree but this fall gave me some of the best figs I have ever tasted. Now, I want to buy another.
