Merlot Grape

unfortunately, following directions on planting the vine in a pot and securing it in a mostly shady and filtered sun spot in my yard, the vine never budded out. Checking the stem by scratch method found nothing but brown, dried out looking material.

Very disappointed in grapevine ...it was advertised as a 2-tear grown sticky vine, but came as 1 year old vine, with first growth from graft of last summer - ALSO - the roots were trimmed off to about 5-6" .... I've grown grapes for 20 years, even developed a couple of vineyards ... This year I got a few vines from VINEYARD SUPPLIERS (Double AA in NY State) that were 1/2 the price at $12 per vine ABD were actually 2 YEARS OF GROWTH as graft site was well developed with very stocky growth from the graft point Good vines need all the roots they have, as this induces fast & stocky growth - roots were NOT trimmed off in these good vibes. ..RAIN TREE obviously does not know their grapes, as per their new management .... (I've been a customer for over 25 ,years getting dozens of fruit trees, gooseberries, currents, etc from them with always GREAT STOCK and GREAT SERVICE ...BUT this grape shipment was a disaster, will never again get grapes from here, unless RAINTREE can provide a "good explanation" and a *good adjustment " for this experience ...
