Prunus cerasus 'Montmorency'

80% of pie cherry trees grown in America and Canada are Montmorency! The beautiful, upright tree thrives in the Pacific Northwest, and all over the US. This incredibly reliable variety produces an abundance of cheery, bright red cherries with clear juice.

Vigorous grower with good, wide crotch angles. Very productive, especially when fruits are protected from birds. Considered low chill; requires 500+ chill hours to reliably set fruit.

Superb in every way!

I plant this tree every time I move—I just planted my third one! The cherries are the perfect balance of tart and sweet. You can eat them right off the tree or they make excellent pies. Plus, the trees naturally seem to grow into a perfectly round lollipop shape that looks like a child’s drawing of a tree, unlike other cherry trees which can fling out sprawling branches in any direction. One of my all-time favorite trees!
