QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Ask a Question
  • What sized pot for a mature tree?

A 27 dry gallon pot works well (a half wine barrel for example).

  • Im in Zone 5a - can I bring this tree into my garage away from harsh winds? or does it have to be inside my home? Thanks!

These trees do well long term in (large) containers so they are a good candidate for moving around. This tree will not survive outside in Zone 5 so you would need to bring it in for the winter.

  • Can this plant stay outdoors in zone 7 during winter?

Yes, but it may suffer from Peach Leaf Curl if you have it in your area.

  • Can I grow this variety in a pot in Zone 8b/9a? (Seattle area)

Yes, it can be container grown.

  • Could I grow this variety in a pot in zone 5? and have it fruit?

Only if it was brought indoors for the winter, this plant will not survive outside in zone 5

Leafed out quick and set fruits

Planted this bare root in a pot sometime in March 2024. The tree leafed out, bloomed and has set (Pix Zee) half a dozen fruits. Even though its a run of the mill Dave Wilson Nursery grown tree, came with good amount of roots which helped to establish quickly. Good work Raintree.

Update 9/2024: Harvested a dozen PixZee fruits. Impressive productivity, flavor and half the fruits were large.

Beautiful little tree

I bought this tree rootstock last May. I got here and was in great shape, well formed and branched.
This year it is loaded with Nectarine's. I can’t wait for them to ripen. Will buy from, RTN again!!!!

3 years strong

I originally purchased this tree in Indiana (zone 5b) I was growing it in a container, where is successfully produced fruit. I was storing it in an unheated shed during the winter. I would begin bringing in out earlier than trees in ground that would be dormant longer. I did this because warmer zones wake up trees more soon, than colder zones. The days the weather was broken, and warm enough.. I left it in the sun. There was times i brought the tree inside, under good sufficient grow lights.. at this point the tree had blooms, and I could not expose the tree to a freeze, nor did I ever once waking it up. Luckily I grew it in a container, cause later on down the road, I packed it up in a U-Haul with , lol god knows how many potted trees and plants, and moved to Alabama (zone 8a) it is now growing in ground and still produces both nectarines and peaches. I have heard that multigrafts often have a variety that dies off. So far this is not the case. And if anybody’s curious, the trees, including evergreen trees, where in a pitch black U-Haul For 15 days before seeing sun, from late jan-early feb.. not one single plant or tree died.

1st time purchase from RT nursery. Pre-ordered miniature peach tree last year 2023 to plant in a container after seeing a vlog from Laura on Gardenanswear.com. I have a small garden area and thrilled to see pink blooms and hopefully the peaches on this cute tree. The tree arrived healthy. I soaked it for couple of hours in a bucket of water before planting in a potting mix with espoma bio-tone. I am expecting leaves any day now. Thank you RTN team.

Beautiful and well cared for

My tree arrived in great shape, about 2 feet tall and with buds ready to bloom. I was able to get it planted same day and it's already starting to bloom.
