Fragaria x 'Mel'

Makes a very thick, attractive ornamental spreading groundcover strawberry with lush green foliage and bright pink, repeating flowers throughout the spring and summer. Plants produce a few small tasty red strawberries. It's is also beautiful in pots and window boxes.

Very hardy and resistant to most diseases that affect strawberries. From England, a Potentilla palustris - strawberry cross.  Sold in a 4" pot.

USDA Zone: 4-8

Grow Height:  1' or smaller (Groundcover)

Sun: Full Sun

Ripening Time: June - September

Pollination: Self Fertile

Lovely, long lasting, beautiful blooming, strawberry ground cover.

I had to replace my 23 year old strawberry plants ground cover, when a neighbor decided they were weeds and pulled out every single one. These arrived beautifully packaged and un-damaged. They are healthy, one was blooming and one had set a strawberry. Thank you for giving me a good ending to an unfortunate experience. I'm so looking forward to their cheery blooms in the Spring.

A little tousled but looks like it will be alright. Can’t wait to see the pink blooms amid the white. Hope to be able to propagate.
