Passiflora incarnata 'PinkPop'

A rare pink variety of hardy Maypop, this passion flower blooms with large vivid lavender-pink blossoms! Flowers, leaves and fruit are all edible, and contain the sedative qualities so valued by the original inhabitants of the Eastern US coastal ranges where this plant is native.

Like most N. American passiflora incarnatas, once established PinkPop can handle freezes with no problem and will regrow year after year! The vines can be trained along a trellis or fence, but prefer to grow freely as compact growth tends to inhibit flowering and fruiting. Will be evergreen in the warmer zones of its range.

USDA Zone: 6-9

Grow Height: Indeterminate vine

Sun: Half Sun - Full Sun

Ripening Time: Summer - Fall

Pollination: Self Fertile

Size: 1 Gallon Pot

UPDATE! The Pinkpop is wonderful

I wish I could update or delete my last review. Three months later, my maypop is thriving. There is even already a baby sucker and I have some buds that will be flowers soon! Incredible :) Definitely plant in a pot unless you want these to come up everywhere!

Packaging was not great, the plant didn't have any leaves and looked damaged, hoping for comeback

I understand that it's difficult to ship plants, but for the price of shipping I would expect much better. I ordered three plants - a female and male hardy kiwi and a maypop - and they were jammed in a box with little to keep them from colliding and shearing off leaves/shoots. For this review of the maypop, there were virtually no leaves and hardly any stem. The plant looked damaged. After a few days it does have some growth. Since it is a vigorous plant, I am fairly certain she will have a comeback, but I did expect better arrival condition.

Both my Passion vines died quickly

I ordered both a Maypop and Pinkpop Passionfruit vines last year and they were delivered a few weeks ago.. they did not survive. I was surprised on how tiny they were too.. Everything else I have received from Raintree was always nice and big.

A 1.5' pole came with the plant; but, the 3" stem was broken to the top of the soil. I planted it anyways with two stems of green poking up through the soil. I'm praying for a comeback!
