Precoce Migoule Grafted Chestnut
Castanea sativa x crenata 'Precoce Migoule'
USDA Prohibits shipping chestnuts to Arizona.
Pronounced pruh-COACH-a mi-GOO-lay. This French hybrid between Castanea sativa (European chestnut) and Castanea crenata (Japanese chestnut) is a vigorous tree with upright growth and has been shown to be well adapted to both cold and warm climates. The most beneficial characteristics of Precoce Migoule are its copious, early pollen that is synchronized with Colossal, and that its nuts mature at least two weeks earlier than Colossal making it a candidate for northern areas where early frosts damage nuts before they can be harvested. Even though this is an extremely reliable pollinizer, you can also expect regular yearly crops of very good quality nuts. Good blight resistance. Grafted trees should start producing 3 years after planting.
