Aronia mitschurinii 'Raintree Select'

We started about 25 seeds from productive Russian aronia plants and all of them produced huge amounts of fruit. We selected this one as a winner among the resulting plants for its slightly more compact, bushy habit and good flavor. To 6-8 feet, can easily be kept shorter.

  • How is eating them raw?

    Better dried than fresh.

  • Is this like a blueberry in taste and able to be eaten raw or in jams?

    Not at all. Aronia is best cooked and used as a coloring or filler for other products. It is extremely heathful, and makes a good jam on it's own, but is otherwise unlike a blueberry entirely.

  • What time of year do the berries ripen?

    Late summer typically, depending on your region.

Earns the name "Select"

Very worried about the condition of the packaging on arrival, however the plants were in excellent condition. The Rainbow Select Aronia was large, fully leafed out and even had buds! It is thriving since planting. I've heard great things about the Rainbow Select, so very excited to have my own.
