QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Ask a Question
  • How much space in width do the plants take up?

6 to 8 feet in width.

  • Hi there. I'm seeing your information on pollination. can you buy two of the same kind for pollination for example Sambucas nigra "samdal" and another Sambucas nigra "samdal" or would it have to be a different plant in the same European family? Also when purchasing, how old are the plants? Thank you!

Named variaties are usually clones and share alleles, making it impossible to achieve pollination. You will need a different S. nigra cultivar, such as Sampo, for cross pollination.

Elderberry order

I specifically ordered from Raintree because I knew that I would receive a thriving specimen - the variety of cultivars and quality of shipped plants is well worth the shipping costs for out of state!! It’s fall in New Mexico and it is still only a shrub but I’m looking forward to heavy growth in the spring.
