Prunus persica 'Stark Saturn'

Whether they are called Donut, Peento, Saucer, Pan Tao, Bagel or Saturn, the unique shape of this peach echos the original wild peaches first cultivated in ancient China. These fun throwbacks are shaped like a doughnut, with a pit where the hole should be.

Saturn, patent #5123, is an early-blooming tree with large, showy, double pink, self-fertile flowers - and is best planted where spring weather is clear and consistent. At 300 chill hours, this is a great choice for our Southern growers! The very sweet, yellow fruit has melting white flesh.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Ask a Question
  • Is this tree decease resistant? If not, will you recommend the most decease resistant peach variety that you may have for my area? South eastern Pa. Thank you so much, Michelle

Saturn is known to grow well in that area

  • Does this tree grow in Olympia WA weather? Can it give fruit here? Thanks,

Saturn peaches are susceptible to peach leaf curl and need a long growing season, so while it may be possible with a greenhouse or container planting, it will not do well planted in ground outdoors.

  • Is this desease resistant? I'm From Des Moines, IA.

Not specifically no. Donut peaches are bred for shape and flavor, not disease resistance. If you need more information about growing peaching in your area please contact your regional Plant Ambassador through our Help Center.

  • I hear that this variety has good resistance to peach leaf curl, is that true?

No, there are no white or donut peaches we carry that have curl resistence.

  • I live in Boston MA. Can I try growing the Saturn peach? We do have late frost here. Is there a way to protect the tree from frost or should I just not try it here?

Peaches actually grow fine in Boston area, try a Canadian variety like Nanaimo or Salish Summer for best results.

Very pleased!

Ordered my Saturn peach last Fall for shipping this Spring. My bare-root tree arrived alive and, three days after planting, it was producing buds, this tree is really something! I recommend Raintree Nursery to my next door neighbors who also want peach trees now! It took me a long time to find anyone who Saturn peaches in stock, but I am glad I finally found them at Raintree, the quality is outstanding!

Don't waste your money

Don't waste your money here on trees you can get from your local store. I live in zone 9b and this tree can not survive here, only the rootstock has branches coming out. I noticed this is a common problem for several trees I purchased here, and too bad, I used the store credit to purchase the tree, so I can not even get a refund or replacement.
