Vitis vinifera 'Siegerrebe'

Prohibited to OR, ID and NY.

A very early-ripening, late-blooming, pink wine grape that is also great for eating fresh. From Germany, where its name translates as "victory vine"! A cold-tolerant daughter of the venerable Madeleine Angevine, it has a Muscat bouquet, moderate production and vigor, and low acid at maturity. It makes a good quality white wine, even in cool summers. Grows in USDA Zone 5-9. Ripens in Sept. in the PNW.

A grapevine can be both a highly productive source of fruit and a focal point of considerable beauty. Think carefully about where to plant one to provide shade, cover a wall or accentuate an arch. We offer grapes most of which will ripen even in areas with cool summers. The ripening dates listed are for the cooler parts of Western Washington, but most ripen sooner and thrive where summers are warmer.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Ask a Question
  • I have planted the Siegerrebe grape and it hasn’t grown yet. Very small buds appears to be alive as stem is bendy. Planted in early May in PNW WA. Should I move it? Right now it’s mostly on shade…?

It should be in full sun yes. It can take time for grapes to leaf out, but it should be moved to a full sun location before it establishes.
