The plants are licensed and limited by WSU to ONLY be sold to people residing and growing the plants in the state of Washington. WE CANNOT SHIP this tree to an address outside of Washington State.
The ‘WA 2’ cultivar, a result of a ‘Splendour’ x ‘Gala’ cross, is the first apple breed released from the WSU apple breeding program. Its high quality taste, appearance, and productivity make it a promising cultivar in Washington State. With an orange-red to pinkish-red blush covering 70-90% of the skin surface and large, noticeable lenticels, ‘WA 2’ stands out from other cultivars and has an appealing appearance. It has a round shape and is a medium-large size, larger than ‘Gala’ but comparable to ‘Braeburn’ and smaller than ‘Fuji’. The fruit has a crisp, firm texture and is very juicy, maintaining its firmness in storage and on the shelf. ‘WA 2’ ripens between late September and early October and is well-suited for both the fresh market and long-term storage.
