Prunus avium 'Sweetheart'

This Sweetheart is easy to love! A large, bright red, self fertile cherry with excellent flavor. This late-ripening beauty will extend the cherry season when paired with other varieties that ripen early and mid season.

It shows a low incidence of cracking during summer rains. The tree is upright, vigorous, heavy bearing and precocious. From British Columbia, it performs well in much of the nation and has been a star at the WSU Mt. Vernon station. It ripens late, a week after Lapins. Needs 800 chill hours to reliably bloom and bear fruit.
