Titan™ Seaberry
Hippophae rhamnoides 'Titan'
Titan ™ is named for its astonishing large, bright orange berries, which are very flavorful and aromatic. One of the few seaberries that is palatable eaten raw, it tastes rather like a tangerine - great for folks who cannot grow citrus! The bush, from Minsk, Belarus, will grow to 10' with attractive, long and narrow, darker green foliage with a silvery underside. Berries make excellent juice or preserves. This is a female plant, which will require a nearby male for pollination.
Seaberry originates from Russia and Central Asia, where it is prized for its edible and nutritious berries. Its thorns make it an ideal hedge plant, and the powerfully-flavored berries, which taste like a cross between an orange and a guava, are delicious in jams and juice. Hardy in zones 3-8. Wind-pollinated; one male plant will pollinize 6-8 surrounding female plants.
