This patented, superior winter hardy, early-season apple thrives in the Northern half of the nation! Zestar ripens early, in late August in the PNW, and has a deliciously crunchy flavor. It will keep nicely for a month and a half. The tree is a reliable producer of large red apples.

Shows some resistance to fireblight and good resistance to mildew; some susceptibility to scab.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Ask a Question
  • What is a good pollinator for Zestar and Honey crisp apple in zone 4?

You might be able to just get away with 1 apple that will hopefully pollinate both Honeycrisp and Zestar, but they are on opposite sides of the pollination chart. Enterprise is a great apple that could do the trick.

Zestar

We’ve purchased from Raintree in the past but this was our first time for trees. Our trees arrived looking healthy and were very well packaged. We planted about two weeks ago and this little guy is already budding out with both leaves and blossoms (i removed blossoms tho). It’s so fun to see! I appreciate the educational videos Raintree provides. Special shout out to Laura Sweany - she was so friendly and helpful in answering our questions and assisting us with finding a pollinator that paired well with this tree as well as our area. Thank you so much, Laura!

A sweet looking tree

Our dwarf addition ,our little Zester tree came loving packaged and is planted in a choice spot in our yard. These apples were sampled at our local farmers market (we had never heard of them before) after tasting we were very impressed and bought a tree of our own. I recommend this variety and Raintree Nurses . Thank you :)
