This tree is currently the most disease-resistant apple on the planet! Dark, polished red skin and intense, sprightly flavor make this medium size, elongated apple a favorite.

Trees that were bred in New York for high scab and mildew resistance thrive in the Pacific Northwest and throughout most of the nation. Every year, a large crop ripens on this spreading tree late midseason, in early October in the PNW.

  • I need a dwarf apple tree for zone 6,do I need to buy two apple trees for the purpose of pollination? Interested in honey crips

    You will need a honeycrisp and anothet compatible pollinator. Check our our apple growing guide for a full breakdown of pollination and a bloom order chart.

  • What size is the rootstock on espalier trees?

    EMLA26 Dwarf rootstock

  • Will a Liberty pollinate a King apple? Also, what crab apple tree (that I can make crab apple jelly from) will pollinate a King apple tree? I grew up with a King apple tree (when I was a child in Seattle), and still remember the taste but have never found a King tree in the Boston area, will they not grow here?

    King blooms too late to cross pollinate with Liberty, you will need a bloom group 4 (mid-late) blooming apple. Please note that King is a triploid apple as well and will not "return the favor" so whatever you use to provide pollination will also need pollination. Queen Cox is considered self fertile, a rarity in apples, in most regions of the United States and may be a good answer if you only have room for 2 trees.

  • What is "somewhat self fertile" mean? What will the yield be without another apple tree for pollination?

    In some areas Liberty will yield a partial crop of apples without cross pollination. It will yield a larger crop, and be more reliable, with cross pollination.

  • I am in western North Carolina, zone 7a, and am wondering if this Liberty apple would do well with a Beni Shogun for pollination?

    Yes they should cross pollinate just fine.

  • will this pollinate a cosmic crisp or will i need 2 apple varieties?

    Apples in the same and adjacent flower groups will reliably pollinize each other.

  • Will an established red delicious pollinate a Liberty apple?

    Yes they should cross pollinate just fine.

    4'-5' tall when shipped and should fruit within the first 2-3 years of planting.

    They are both mid season bloomers so yes!

Liberty 🍎 IS THE BEST

Planted our mini dwarf Liberty in April of 21. I wasn't excited about it like my other apple varieties, but it was a good price and seemed to have amazing disease resistance.
September of 24 and this tiny tree is loaded with large, beautiful fruit. The redder apples are very crisp, the flesh is a bright white, and sweet-tart. The apples left to mature longer turn a beautiful dark purplish hue and polish up BEAUTIFULLY. They are softer but so juicy and very sweet. I am a HUGE FAN. Ordering more for planting next spring! I included a picture of a store bought apple I had on hand for comparison.

Healthy and ready to rock!

The tree I received was in great shape and already had a great central leader structure! Almost all the limbs were already in good locations with good angles so very little pruning was needed. It's been three weeks since I planted it and it's just starting to bud out and open up. It looks great!

Highly Recommend Raintree Nursery

I pre-ordered two apple trees from Raintree Nursery and included instructions to notify me before they shipped them. A few months later, Raintree notified me as per my request and the trees arrived on time and in excellent condition. The roots were well hydrated and healthy while the branches were intact and protected from damage during the shipping. I also talked to the Raintree Nursery customer service on several occasions for advice on growing the trees. I have found them to be most knowledgeable, courteous, and helpful. Not all climates are suitable to grow apple trees but with the quality trees and advice from Raintree Nursery, I believe my trees have an excellent chance of producing fruit. I would highly recommend Raintree Nursery to anyone!
