Vaccinium corymbosum 'Olympia'

A Northwest original! Introduced in 1933 by renowned local grower Joseph Eberhardt, this heritage variety boasts medium-large berries with superior, rich blueberry flavor. Ripens dependable crops in late-midseason.

This spreading, upright variety prefers milder winter locations, needs 800+ chill hours, and responds well to pruning to keep it upright and vigorous. REQUIRES another blueberry for pollination - one of the few varieties that is not at least partially self-fertile.

  • Will this blueberry grow well in a large pot - 22in wide x 20in deep?

    With irrigation, yes it will grow fine.

  • Since my backyard is not big, if 1) I just plant one Olympia Blueberry, wit it bear fruit? 2) how long will it take to bear fruit? 3) should I plant blueberry now or in Spring? Hope to hear from you soon.

    Olympia performs very poorly on it's own. It will produce fruit, but in very small amounts. Our blueberries are flowering age when shipped and can be planted anytime.
