OK to MI & OH because Prince Consort is blight resistant.

Space these easy-to-grow, rust resistant plants 3' apart to create a bushy, 5' tall hedge, and be ready to harvest loads of large fruit. Consort has a very strong flavor. It was developed in Ottawa, Canada about 1950.

Partially self fertile plants produce best with another variety of R. nigrum for cross-pollinization. Bushes will grow to 4-5’ tall. We offer well-rooted 1-year bushes. Cold hardy to  USDA Zone 3 (-40F). 

Black currants have outstanding health benefits, including high Vitamin C content, up to 5 times that of oranges by weight. They have twice the potassium of bananas and twice the antioxidants of blueberries. The antioxidants, essential fatty acids and potassium in black currants have anti- inflammatory impact, reducing the effects of arthritis. Its antioxidant action has been shown to help prevent cancer. The strong flavor of Black Currants is highly prized in Europe, even fresh, but most Americans prefer them made into jam, syrup or dried as raisins.

Didn't survive

I'm not sure if it was dry at the beginning or not survived a transportation but it is dry at the moment. It was planted in a shade and watered regularly. Nothing helped.

Virtually Dead upon arrival.

We purchased 3 varieties of black currants: Titania, Risager, and Prince Consort. The first two varieties had few leaves that were yellowish-white from lack of light, but those recovered with TLC. The prince consorts had the faintest glimmer of life (a miniscule leaf bud on each plant). Despite my best efforts, they have perished, despite some success the first two weeks after planting. Will be asking for replacement plants.

My product arrived in good condition the roots were still moist. I soaked them in water for two days like was recommended in the email that was sent to me. Very healthy plants

I bought several varieties of currant, and they all exceeded my expectations in every way. The plants I received are taller than some bareroots that I had planted last year, and they all began showing strong growth within a week of planting (zone4b)
