Prunus avium spp.

(Varieties subject to change from year to year.)

Enjoy the best red and yellow, early and late season cherries all on one beautiful, self-fertile tree. Grown on heavily productive Gisela 5 rootstock, the dwarf tree will soon yield loads of delicious cherries of four varieties. Easily maintained at a manageable 10' tall, the tree can be easily netted from birds and picked. Trees include 4 of the following 6 varieties: Nugent(AKA NY518), Montmorency, Lapins, Rainier, Black Gold and/or Hudson.

Each branch will be labeled.

Please Note: We cannot guarantee specific variety requests for combo trees due to the numerous factors that can affect successful grafting. If you desire a specific varietal, we recommend purchasing it as a single-graft tree from our collection.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Ask a Question
  • How wide does this tree get? I see that it's self fertile, and that the main pie cherry page said it's also a good idea to plant more than one variety. Is that still true with this tree since it has more than one kind grafted? Thanks

This tree will grow roughly 12'x12' and will be fine by itself provided you lose no branches.

  • I thought dwarf trees were 6-7 ft tall not 12?

Generally a 6 foot tall tree would be a "mini dwarf" in most cases.

  • can you plant in a pot

For a time yes, but it will eventually outgrow it.

  • HI, What are the varieties this year? And do I need another cherry tree for a pollinizer?

This tree includes 4 of the following 6 varieties: Nugent, Montmorency, Lapins, Rainier, Black Gold and/or Hudson. If you want specific variaties we will try to fulfill requests on a best effort basis. These trees are functionally self fertile.

  • This Combination Dwarf cherry tree already has varieties. Do I need to buy another tree as pollinizer?

Nope! It is functionally self fertile!

  • How many years after planting will it produce fruit? This should be listed in every fruit tree description.

Fruit bearing is dependent on a lot of factors including: rootstock, climate, planting conditions, care during establishment, disease, pests, and pollination. Typically a tree of this age will bear fruit within 2-3 years of planting, but your mileage may vary.

  • The description next to the picture says: [ Grow Height: 12' (Dwarf). ] But the button on the top right of the ad says: [ Dwarf (4-5'). ] I've noticed this on a lot of the descriptions for the trees. And it's making it tough to plan my new yard, as I have limited space with several oaks and maples to work around..

The growth height is the growth height (12 feet in this case) and the shipping size is the size of the tree when shipped (4-5 feet in this case). I hope that helps!

Lost the cherry graft

Tree cam e in great condition. The only issue is that the graft i really wanted was the Nugent cherry. My luck, it was the one that didn't make it.

Full of buds!

It arrived looking great. Bare root, dormant, but with plump buds all over.
12 days later, and they look like they are about to open!

Arrived in great condition

Arrived in great condition. One branches was broken towards the end, about 4 inches, but I think that was due to shipping/transport & not due to packaging. The tree looks very healthy. I can’t wait to watch it grow & harvest cherries down the road.

Only 3 out of 4 varieties were labeled

Only 3 out 4 varieties were labeled. The tree itself is stocky, but large roots were drastically pruned. Time will tell if the tree establishes., but of course that will take more than 30 days and there will be no credit issued.

Did not give 4 varieties only 3

I've been anxiously waiting for my three combo trees I ordered and the cherry one only had 3 combinations instead of 4. This is disappointing.

Super Helpful and Tree Looks Great

I had ordered this tree last fall and unexpectedly ended up moving over the winter. I reached out to Raintree and they were very responsive and helpful in changing the delivery address to my new house. The tree showed up to the right place with a bunch of healthy buds on all four of the grafts. I got it planted and have been checking on it and it’s continuing to grow the buds so I’m very excited to see how to goes later this year. I plan on ordering a couple more fruit trees next year once I have a feel for how much sun other areas of my yard will have in the summer.

The tree was just gorgeous out if the box

The fruit tree I ordered was gorgeous right out of the box. Raintree obviously cares about providing a high quality product. This is my second tree order with the same results.

Combination Dwarf Cherry Tree (4 varieties) - Dwarf (4'-5')

I was so excited about this tree —seeing that it had so many varieties in one tree, I was out of my imagination. However, the tree did not return after the summer. I kept taking care of the tree and hoping that it would recover and come back in Spring, but it never did. Please advise. I would really like to have one or any other verity that will survive in zone 6.

Dwarf cherry

Received my dwarf cherry trees last week and they were already flowering! Got them in the ground and they seem to be doing great. Really beautiful little trees!

Grafted cherry tree

The combination grafted dwarf cherry tree I purchased came very dormant. It’s been planted for a couple weeks and has really started coming to life. It’s a healthy little tree and I can hardly wait until it grows and bears all four varieties of cherry. I haven’t much space so the combination is a great purchase.

I love my cherry tree!

I receive my tree and did what it subjest to do and we planted.
My tree looks happy, heathy and it is growing.
I am so excited to see hopefully next year the 5 diferents kinds of cherry it will give me.
I will keep taking care of it so it will give me heathy fruits. ;)

combination dwarf cherry tree

Tree arrived in excellent condition. SURPRISE! my 4 way cherry actually has five kinds of cherries. Planted just before we have had almost 4 inches of rain in well drained soil so it is getting a great start. Not sure who can't wait for the fruit in several years myself or grandkids.

Combination Dwarf Cherry Tree

My Combination Dwarf Cherry Tree (4 varieties) arrived in perfect condition... healthy and ready for planting. The cambium is healthy, the grafts look clean and strong. I made sure to plant withing 24 hours of receiving and am happy to say, within two weeks all branches are budding. Raintree Nursery had delayed shipping due to the recent freezes giving this tree the best protection from damage in transit. I appreciate the conscientious dedication to producing what I believe will be an awesome addition to my garden!

Too early to tell

I can update my review in one year. At this time I can tell that I received a box with 5 trees (two combos and 3 apples). Combo trees just wrapped in plastic, wet, but no shredded paper as advertised. Cherry tree looks great with buds start to bloom.

does not grow in zone 9

I purchased this tree because of the zone indicated. It was categorized for zone 9, which is where I grew fruit trees before. However this specie does not like the heat here and died. I have all my trees on a drip system, so water supply was not the issue. The experts are Raintree, but I only received excuses after excuses.

Grafted Cherry tree

I bought this tree and planted it 13 years ago and it is still magnificent. This year maybe our best year yet! I am not the most knowledgeable or diligent steward, but it has been fruitful and forgiving.
