Prunus cerasus 'Evans'

This Morello-type, tart cherry with crimson flesh and rich red juice was found near Edmonton, Alberta, which explains its exceptional cold tolerance.

Naturally dwarf, rounded trees grow to 8 feet tall and annually produce heavy flower and fruit crops. An exceptional choice for commercial & home orchard use, especially in the north.

I appreciate the effort that went into getting the tree shipped a great distance to me so that it could be planted in memory of a friend’s son, Evan. Communication was clear about the shipment, the care for the tree, and what to expect. Excellent service and personable people!

Never leafed out

Got an Evans and a Surefire from Raintree spring 2025, and neither ever leafed out at all. Raintree seems to be hit and miss these days, either the tree is great or it is dead. I got 2 sweet cherries that absolutely barely had any roots to speak of and they immediately died. Maybe it is time to start looking elsewhere.

I ordered two Evans Cherry trees. They arrived to Juneau Alaska in great shape a few weeks ago. They already have a bunch of growth and a few little flowers. They are great looking trees!!

Dwarf Sour Cherry Tree

The roots were wrapped in wet newspaper and then wrapped with plastic. Within a couple days it started to sprout. It looks like it might even produce cherries this year. I love the tree!
