QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Ask a Question
  • Is Morello a good pollinizer for Montmorency? I have a Montmorency in my yard already. If not Morello, what do you suggest?

Neither tree should need cross pollination, but they should be fine with each other.

  • Would a mini dwarf of this variety do well in a pot?

A large enough container yes. A half wine barrel is 27 gallons.

  • There are two conflicting grow heights listed here for the dwarf montmorency cherry. One says 12' and the other says 5'. Can you clarify how large this will grow?

The tree is 4'-5' when shipped and will grow to 12'-14' feet at maturity.

  • What is the best time of the year to plant Cherry trees in Seattle?

Springtime between February and the end of April.

Love my tree

I received my tree several days. Put in the as directed and it already has new shoots. Love my tree. I’m also including pictures of my red dragon and burgundy leaf filberts I got several years ago.

Beautiful!

We ordered the mini dwarf 3 to 4 feet. Our trunk is at least an inch if not more. Thicker than a pencil. Hardier and bigger than I expected. She’s in the ground and we are eager to see her first blooms! She’s pruned very well and has lots of healthy buds.

Excellent trees

Trees arrived in excellent condition. Got them in the ground and they have actually leaked out and have a few blooms on them. Highly recommend.

This my second delivery of trees from Raintree Nursery and yet again I received a healthy, well trimmed tree, ready to come out of dormancy! I had trees from other nurseries delivered and Raintree Nursery’s quality is unmatched so far. Definitely the nursery that will be my first choice in the future.

Less than expected.

I had high hopes for this Montmorecy Cherry on Gesila 3 stock. Because it took so so long to get it, this bare root is way behind the one I bought at a local nursery. My local one is mostly leafed out and thriveing. The one I just received from Raintree after waiting almost 3 months to get is budded but no leaves. Guess I will wait and see what happens but Raintree will not be my go to.

Beautiful little tree, packed well for shipping and now Planted!!

We received our little dwarf tart cherry tree at a perfect time for planting in the Puget Sound area. It’s a Montmorency. We had one for about 20 years and it was so incredibly productive! We were happy with the careful packing and detailed web videos from Raintree on how to plant the tree. We expect great things in the next few years!

Superb in every way!

I plant this tree every time I move—I just planted my third one! The cherries are the perfect balance of tart and sweet. You can eat them right off the tree or they make excellent pies. Plus, the trees naturally seem to grow into a perfectly round lollipop shape that looks like a child’s drawing of a tree, unlike other cherry trees which can fling out sprawling branches in any direction. One of my all-time favorite trees!
