Prunus avium 'White Gold'

White Gold is an absolutely delicious red-and-yellow, mid-season, self fertile sweet cherry. White Gold is a product of crossing Emperor Francis x Stella from our friends at the NY Experiment Station.

White Gold's good size, great flavor, consistently heavy crops and resistance to cracking and to bacterial canker make the perfect substitute for Rainer cherries in areas where weather conditions are too wet and pollination options are limited. Needs 700 chill hours to reliably bloom and bear fruit.

  • Would a mini dwarf do well in a pot? Assuming you up-pot it incrementally as needed?

    Yes that can work well. A half wine barrel is 27 gallons for reference and a great option.

  • What is the White Gold Cherry’s preferred pruning style?

    White Gold can be pruned a number of ways. You should stick with the preffered style for your area. Generally cherries do best with thin crowns that promote a lot of light penetration and air flow.

Wonderful Bare Root Tree

In the ground & ready to grow!

Received my White Gold Cherry tree on-time & in great shape. The Youtube videos were very helpful. Buds are getting ready to open up. I am planning to remove (prune) the buds on the new trunk, which I assume was a branch before grafting. Looking forward to years of great fruit from this tree, along with my two-year-old 4x1 Fruit Cocktail tree (arrow). : )

Delicious self fertile cherry

Our tree is a few years old and just put out its first real small crop of beautiful yellow/red cherries after years of benign neglect. The texture of the cherries was soft but satisfyingly fleshy. Intensely sweet and juicier than the store bought cherries.

Arrived with roots moist and buds swelling. Soaked the roots and it seems to be taking to its spot well. Buds staring to burst and all seem healthy. Will wait for summer heat to prune to columnar form.

Nicely pruned cherry!

The baby tree arrived in beautiful condition -- roots and packing materials still nice and moist, and it had been pre-pruned wonderfully. I had my clippers in hand, ready to 'fix' it before planting -- but it didn't need a thing. We are very excited to see how it grows.

Dwarf cherry

Tree showed up well packaged, put in place of a hardired nectarine that was ordered and planted two years earlier. Nectarine had bad leaf curl issues. Hope the cherry will produce for many years!

First purchase/try

This will be my first time growing a fruit tree. The tree was delivered to me in NYS at the perfect time (mid April). The package was in very good order, just as they show in the videos. Both trees were really healthy, already flowering, and branched perfectly. I just planted them in the ground following the instructions. Now lets see if i mess this up from this point forward.
I would order from them again.
