Ask a Question
  • Is this pear tree the same as pear trees simply called D’Anjou?

It is not! D'Anjou pears were originally called Beurré d'Anjou and were named after the Anjou region of France, but were developed in Belgium and introduced in 1842. This pear was discovered and named much earlier, in 1812, and is a French pear actually from Anjou. Hope that helps!

  • on filter for pears, I selected self-fertile yet in the description pollination is shown to be required. Which is it, self-fertile or not ?

No pears are fully self fertile and to get a complete crop you will need cross pollination. For a partial crop there are a few that will work solo.
