San Andreas Strawberry

Ordered two years ago, planted bare in the fall. Planted alongside Sweet Sunrise; these fared better in terms of overall heartiness and productivity. They grew well with full sun & very little care. We had lots of berries and lots of runners both the first and second summers. Both years there were only a few berries in early summer, but highly productive from mid-August until October. The berries are large, deep red and sweet. They are softer than many other varieties, so they do not tend to hold up in packed lunches.

I bought this last year along with the Albion bareroots and had high hopes given their warm climate affinity. Unfortunately, the majority (more than half) died or rotted well before they could take off. I'm not new to planting bareroots strawberries so it was quite disheartening. In contrast, the Albion strawberries planted side by side the San Andreas did exceptionally well and are still going strong. I'm giving it a 3-star review because maybe they're doing alright for someone else and I'm chalking my experience up to unfortunate circumstances.
