Huckleberries

Vaccinium ovatum

Not to be confused with the Mountain huckleberry, Vaccinium membranaceum, Evergreen huckleberry fruit is tiny, delicious and the plants are rarely available in nurseries. They are in the same family as blueberries, and have much the same requirements. The plants also prefer shady locations, getting up to 3 times taller in the shade! Durable and hardy, Evergreen huckleberries can be a lynchpin in creating a productive shade garden.
