Queen Cox Self-Fertile Apple

We were hopeful, but after a month, it was rotten and dead

The miniature apple arrived well packaged and had a beautiful form to the branches. This picture is 5 weeks after receiving and planting. I couldn’t be more pleased.

Beautiful tree, already coming into leaf looks very healthy.

The packaging was excellent as usual forRaintree. However, the central leader on the tree was broken a couple of inches from its top due to some rough handling in shipment. It should recover. The tree was planted immediately on arrival and is receiving recommended amounts of water for a new planting. I expect it to do well.

Arrived in perfect condition! Tree was dormant. Roots were moist and they even marked the root line with a piece of tape for planting.

Mine arrived on time, this is our second one (replacement from last May when it arrived in a rotten, soggy mess and dead on arrival). I am giving it three stars, and may go up or down later based on years of growth. It appears healthy, but the top 10" main line was snapped, not freshly, but probably during packaging (A little green was observed in the spire, so it wasn't like that all season). Customer service told me to prune back the other branches, which will push back my tree's growth for several years. I think customer service is nice (this go round and last year when I received the dead tree), but this will be my last order with Raintree. I wanted to love them so much. (I grew up outside of Seattle and hiked in the Cascades frequently). I love the selection, but if this one dies or struggles with growth due to the damage upon arrival, I'd have to wait yet another year and another roll of the dice. I wish more care was taken when these trees were bundled for shipping. I tried.

The queen cox being self fertile and being in bloom group 4 was a perfect pairing for my Melrose apple. Queen cox provides pollen for both trees. Melrose provides zip but should be productive next to the Queen cox.

My Queen Cox self-fertile apple tree arrived in excellent condition. Looks very healthy so far. Planted her in the ground the next day and watered her well. Now I wait and see how she does. Spring nearly here and the weather here in Central Valley, CA is getting warmer every day since end of Februray. Frost time had passed.

The year we planted the tree i thought it may not make it. But it ended up doing very well. I'm writing this review after the tree has been in the ground for 3 years. It produced 8 apples this year with fantastic almost candy like flavor. The texture is very good with only slight graininess like a pear. I would highly recommend this tree.

Product shipped at the right time for planting. Get with me next year and i can tell you how well it grew.

The espalier tree arrived in good condition!

The little tree arrived in a well-packed box and was planted the day after. It was healthy and well-shaped and had some nice leaf buds that are now opening in our late-spring warmth. Looking forward to seeing it develop and fruit!

My little tree arrived very quickly. It was in beautiful condition, fully dormant, branched out and awaiting my own careful pruning with choices left in my hands.

Queen cox has been reliably fruitful from even a young age. The flavor is tart-sweet, complex, and the texture is dense and not juicy. This would be a good one for eating fresh by slicing it thin with a good flavored cheese.

The first few years the fruit cracked, but seems to have outgrown that issue this year.

I used organza bags to keep pests out, and it seems to have worked well.

My garden is shaded around 3pm and these still manage to ripen. I pulled a couple off of the tree yesterday 9/2 and several more seem to need a touch more ripening.

Location is west of the cascades in Oregon, Clackamas county, 600 feet.

I've had a tree on the most dwarfing rootstock for a few years. These trees do tend to be the ones most browsed by deer - if deer are at all an issue consider a larger tree.

Writing half a year after getting the tree. Arrived in good shape, roots were pretty damp and fragile and lost a bit while planting, but it recovered fine. Actually flowered a couple months in but no fruit, we'll blame how young it is plus the drought. It came already pruned a bit with a pretty good structure, kind of 2 tiers of 4 branches and a central leader. It shipped super early, had to ask them to delay it so the ground wasn't still frozen...

Timely shipment plant received in perfect condition. It seems to be thriving. Well, even considering the fact that we’ve had a drought like condition here where usually everything is wet all the time.

Tree arrived in amazing condition and started to bloom as soon as it was put outside.

I thought long and hard about the right kind of fruit tree to bring into my backyard garden. Raintree had good selection and a strong reputation for plants in good health. I selected the Queen Cox dwarf for it's size. The tree came well packaged and is in great condition. It's planted now, still waiting for the CO weather to perk up and see the first buds. Very excited for this tree's future.

I had two orders they both arrived on the same day luckily for me it was a day off, and I was able to get them in the ground the same day. All plants were in excellent condition, pleased with service and everything.

This beautiful girl came with a great shape. she has been planted less than a week and little buds are coming out. Im very happy

Almost a year since I ordered it, but it finally got here. Seems alright so far. I hope to see it wake up and grow well.

I Love my Queen Cox Apple tree.. it’s my favorite, flavored apple in my orchard! Mine is a mini dwarf tree size and grows just a little bit each year, but it does provide a good bounty of small super tasty fruit! I look forward each year to the pretty Spring blooms and then the lovely cute apples…a real treat! I built up, from the ground, a round central area with some larger bricks.. filled it in with soil, etc. and then planted this Queen Cox Apple tree in the center. This way it was raised up to a higher level for me to enjoy its unique size and width. I would definitely recommend this apple tree, whole heartedly and with passion, especially here on the Wa. Coast. It’s self fertile, has an incredible taste and it’s very prolific!! I got the mini dwarf size, because that what was available, but I would have gotten the larger sizes as well! The Cox’s Orange Pippin apples really do live up to their reputation as some of the most flavorful apples in the world…❤️????
