Hall's Beauty Blackberry

As ever, Raintree quality and shipping was excellent, and the plant has thrived (PNW, Anacortes, Wa; officially 8b but we get brief stretches of zone 6-7 temps in some winters).

Easy to maintain on wires (canes stretch 6-8') and berries are large and juicy. Bought the tiny start in 2021, and had reliable fruit after the first year, with probably full production by the 4th year.

My issue with this variety is the flavor which is not so much blackberry as unspecified floral. I can't put my finger on what the flavor is -- not like any other berry, for sure not like the invasive Himalayan blackberries we're all accustomed to, but like a burst of some indistinct fruity floral something. Neighbors I've shared the berries with have commented the same: good but unexpected flavor. I don't love them for fresh eating, though the size and texture is great for that, and mostly freeze to use in mixed berry jams. Based on this, I'd have gone with a different variety for my backyard and am debating swapping it out though it is flourishing.

The plants I was sent for Hall's Beauty Blackberry were healthy starts with a good amount of leaves on them. The plants arrived intact out of 4 , only one looked puny and I photographed it and sent it to Raintree, they told me what to do, water it well . It's been about 2months now- the puny plant looks great. all 4 are doing well in containers right now, even with the high temps in our region. Big thumbs up for all 4.

The blackberry arrived in excellent condition. I am planting it inside a 27 gallon storage container(with lots of holes for drainage). It is inside a fence, to keep the deer away from it. It is doing well, going to sleep for the winter.
