Jasmine beesianum x officinale

A somewhat hardier sister to our Rose Jasmine! In late spring this beautiful vine is covered with clusters of soft pink, lightly fragrant, night-blooming flowers that suggest the scent of a tropical paradise. Yet this cousin of the tropics is hardy to 0 F. and will strongly twine on a fence or trellis. It will climb to 12'-15' and be evergreen in warmer locations within its range.

In colder locations it is deciduous and would benefit strongly from a winter mulch. Cold hardy to USDA Zone 7.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Ask a Question
  • Will the Jasmin take partial shade? Half the day? We are in Zone 6 in South Central PA. Also, will you send planting instructions?

It will tolerate partial shade. Planting instructions are on our website, located in the Growing Guides.

  • Is this evergreen in Seattle and will it be ok in pot? Thinking of an evergreen vine for a roof deck. Thanks.

In most winters yes, it is evergreen in the Seattle area and it can grow in a pot just fine.

  • Are the flowers of this variety edible?

They aren't poisonous, but they are intensely bitter. Typcially you would use them as an aromatic to flavor a dish, not actually eat them.

Arrived healthy; planted nicely. Two days later, the tops have a yellow hue. And I'm waiting for the green to return; hoping for many pink flowers!
