QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Ask a Question
  • How wide does this tree get? I see that it's self fertile, and that the main pie cherry page said it's also a good idea to plant more than one variety. Is that still true with this tree since it has more than one kind grafted? Thanks

This tree will grow roughly 12'x12' and will be fine by itself provided you lose no branches.

  • I thought dwarf trees were 6-7 ft tall not 12?

Generally a 6 foot tall tree would be a "mini dwarf" in most cases.

  • can you plant in a pot

For a time yes, but it will eventually outgrow it.

  • HI, What are the varieties this year? And do I need another cherry tree for a pollinizer?

This tree includes 4 of the following 6 varieties: Nugent, Montmorency, Lapins, Rainier, Black Gold and/or Hudson. If you want specific variaties we will try to fulfill requests on a best effort basis. These trees are functionally self fertile.

  • This Combination Dwarf cherry tree already has varieties. Do I need to buy another tree as pollinizer?

Nope! It is functionally self fertile!

  • How many years after planting will it produce fruit? This should be listed in every fruit tree description.

Fruit bearing is dependent on a lot of factors including: rootstock, climate, planting conditions, care during establishment, disease, pests, and pollination. Typically a tree of this age will bear fruit within 2-3 years of planting, but your mileage may vary.

  • The description next to the picture says: [ Grow Height: 12' (Dwarf). ] But the button on the top right of the ad says: [ Dwarf (4-5'). ] I've noticed this on a lot of the descriptions for the trees. And it's making it tough to plan my new yard, as I have limited space with several oaks and maples to work around..

The growth height is the growth height (12 feet in this case) and the shipping size is the size of the tree when shipped (4-5 feet in this case). I hope that helps!

Grafted Cherry tree

I bought this tree and planted it 13 years ago and it is still magnificent. This year maybe our best year yet! I am not the most knowledgeable or diligent steward, but it has been fruitful and forgiving.

Too early to tell

I can update my review in one year. At this time I can tell that I received a box with 5 trees (two combos and 3 apples). Combo trees just wrapped in plastic, wet, but no shredded paper as advertised. Cherry tree looks great with buds start to bloom.

does not grow in zone 9

I purchased this tree because of the zone indicated. It was categorized for zone 9, which is where I grew fruit trees before. However this specie does not like the heat here and died. I have all my trees on a drip system, so water supply was not the issue. The experts are Raintree, but I only received excuses after excuses.
