Possum Purple Passiflora
Passiflora edulis 'Possum Purple'
Prohibited to Hawaii
Possum Purple is a self-fertile passion fruit producing medium sized purple skinned fruit. Flavorful and very sweet when the fruit ripens with lots of sun and heat. The vigorous vines produce lots of fruit in long growing season locations, or plant in a container and place in your sunniest South facing outdoor location and bring inside to finish ripening. Note: Tops are damaged at temperatures near freezing. A selected seedling by Robert Barnum of Possum Trot Farm in Florida.
Vines can be looped around a trellis several times until time to trim back in late winter for new spring growth. Harvest when the skin of the fruit is somewhat wrinkled for best flavor.
