White Pearl Currant
Ribes rubrum 'White Pearl'
Prohibited to DE, ME, MI, NC, NH & WV, and by permit only to MA and NJ
Holland's growers have sent us the extraordinarily beautiful and productive White Pearl - European gardeners have been enjoying it for years! When the compact bush is dripping with the dainty, grape-like clusters of translucent berries, it seems almost a shame to pick them off to use - but do it anyway and enjoy the sweeter flavor and heavy production of this sister to red currants. Very high in Vitamin C.
Hardy and compact bush grows upright to 4’ tall by 4' wide. Can begin production in year 2 and will mature to full potential by year 5. Less susceptible to white pine blister rust than black currants. Prefers moist, fertile soils high in organic matter and locations protected from drying winds, and can be productive in part sun locations. USDA zones 4-8
